Well, everyone, it’s that time of year again. The days are getting shorter, there’s a slight chill in the air and everyone is scrambling to spend as much time outdoors as possible before we all hibernate for a few months. Or maybe you’re one of those people who’s ready for the cooler temperatures and the cozy fires. Lucky for us, there’s a spot in Greenport that has it all! Enter: American Beech, the ultimate treasure trove for Instagram photos on the North Fork.
For those of us who are clinging to summer, the outdoor bar at Beech is the ideal spot, even on a cooler evening, to enjoy a drink or three. The lounges and couches surrounded by palms and lanterns will make you feel as though you’re in a tropical paradise rather than downtown. The string lights, greenery and patterned upholstery make the perfect backdrop for a photo opportunity with your friends. So what if your Instagram followers think you’re on an island getaway. Let them! This restaurant is basically an oasis in the middle of town, and you deserve to treat it as such.
For argument’s sake, let’s say that the night has gotten a little too chilly. No worries, just head inside and snag one of the tables near the bar. If it’s especially cold, there might even be a fire lit! Here you can cozy up on a couch, order drinks and food from the bar, and still get the full restaurant experience. Even better, the tables are nice and low, so you won’t have to stand on a chair to get those perfect overhead food shots. (Humble brag: my brother-in-law Kyle Romeo is the chef, so I think every plate is particularly beautiful and delicious!)
Now, what I’m about to say might surprise you. For your next photo op, head to the bathroom. I have just two words for you: Flamingo. Wallpaper. I am not usually one to condone a bathroom selfie, but this place is screaming for one. The gorgeous pink hue of the walls and the soft lighting will have all your friends begging to know what filter you used. Only you will know the secret!
So gather up some friends, or treat yourself to a solo date night. Either way, you’ll probably find me at the bar, so let’s toast to the changing of seasons!
