Meet the Team, Michele Snock, Wine Educator

May 24, 2026

At Suhru & Lieb Vineyards, the experience goes far beyond what’s in the glass—and that’s where Michele Snock comes in. As a North Fork wine educator, Michele blends hospitality, storytelling, and deep wine knowledge to create tasting experiences that feel both welcoming and memorable. Whether you’re new to wine or looking to learn more, she brings each visit to life in a way that keeps guests coming back.

What Does a North Fork Wine Educator Do?

A North Fork wine educator does more than pour wine—they guide guests through an experience. That includes:

  • Explaining how wines are made and what makes them unique
  • Sharing the story of the vineyard, the vintage, and the region
  • Helping guests understand flavor profiles and pairings
  • Creating a relaxed, welcoming environment for learning and enjoyment

At its best, wine education isn’t about memorizing facts—it’s about making wine approachable, engaging, and personal. Michele does exactly that, helping guests feel comfortable asking questions and discovering new favorites along the way.

A Passion for Hospitality, Rooted in Experience

Michele’s path to wine started, like many great hospitality careers do, on the floor.

While working as a waiter throughout college, she discovered how much she genuinely enjoys taking care of people. That early experience led her into the hotel industry after graduation, where she worked in front office operations at the Vista Hotel in New York City and later in convention services at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

What stayed consistent throughout?
A love for creating meaningful guest experiences.

“I’ve always found it rewarding to know I can make a meaningful difference in a guest’s experience,” she shares.

Finding the Right Fit on the North Fork

Michele brings a well-rounded wine background, having worked at wineries in both Napa Valley and the North Fork. For her, the right environment matters just as much as the wine itself.

“I’m passionate about curating quality wine and delivering first-class experiences,” she explains. “It was important for me to find a place that values knowledgeable staff, prioritizes customer service, and is dedicated to producing exceptional wine.”

She also notes that working at Suhru & Lieb offers something even more meaningful:

“It’s wonderful to work for a family-owned and operated business that truly makes a difference. Russ also takes the time to keep the team up to date on what’s happening in the vineyard, which we’re then able to share with our guests.”

That connection between vineyard, team, and guest experience is something Michele values deeply.

The Art of Storytelling in Wine

Ask Michele what she loves most about her role, and the answer comes easily: connecting with guests through stories.

“I consider myself a pretty good storyteller,” she says. “When someone is really interested in learning more about wine, I love sharing the history of the civilizations and individuals who shaped viticulture and winemaking over time.”

For Michele, wine isn’t just about tasting—it’s about context, history, and the people behind it. That perspective turns a simple tasting into something more engaging, more memorable, and more personal.

What to Expect When You Visit

If it’s your first time at the tasting room, Michele sums up her role simply:

“I’m your gracious and knowledgeable host to a great afternoon.”

That means guiding guests through the wines, answering questions without overwhelming, and creating an experience that feels both relaxed and elevated.

What She’s Pouring Right Now

When it comes to current favorites, Michele points to a wine that stands out for both staff and guests:

Four Pinots
“A staff favorite—including mine,” she says. “It’s a unique blend that no one else is really doing. It’s crisp, lean, and mineral-driven—perfect to enjoy on the terrace on a summer afternoon.”

Unexpected Pairings Worth Trying

Michele is also quick to highlight one pairing that consistently surprises guests:

“Our sparkling wines—made in the traditional Champagne method—are incredibly food-friendly, especially with slightly salted foods,” she explains. “Truffle potato chips with a glass of Sparkling Rosé or Sparkling Reserve? It’s a match made in heaven.”

The Moments That Matter

For Michele, the most rewarding part of the job isn’t just the wine—it’s the feedback from guests.

“It happens often, and it never fails to make me smile,” she says. “Guests will tell me that they’ve visited many wineries, but this is the one that stands out because of how much they’ve learned here.”

That sense of connection and education is exactly what she aims to create with every visit.

Looking Ahead to the Season

With spring arriving on the North Fork, Michele is especially excited for what’s ahead.

“We can enjoy the outdoors again,” she says. “I’m really looking forward to guests experiencing our updated terrace—with the sun sail shade system, new furnishings, and refreshed look. It’s such a beautiful space to relax and enjoy the wines.”

What Makes Suhru & Lieb Special

Michele describes the winery as a bit of a hidden gem—and that’s exactly how many guests experience it.

“We’re slightly off the beaten path, and that’s part of the charm,” she says. “The space is cozy, welcoming, and the wines and food offerings are exceptional. People who find us always come back—and they bring their friends.”

Her Advice for Visiting the North Fork

If Michele could give one piece of advice to visitors, it would be this:

“Take your time. Enjoy the beauty of the region, the food, and the wine. Visit two or three wineries max in a day—don’t rush. And make sure to enjoy at least one really great meal.”

In other words: slow down, stay present, and let the experience unfold.

Next time you visit, you might just find yourself sitting across from Michele—learning something new, hearing a great story, and leaving with a deeper appreciation for what’s in your glass.
